Tea decided she was ready for a room makeover so we are trying to create a fun, cool, artsy, totally Teag room on a budget.
After months of her laboring over the choice of paint we finally ended up with Wild Grape walls. It ended up being the perfect color and she LOVES it. Now we needed something for the windows. Curtains are kinda pricey, especially anything in fun, bright colors and designs. We came up with the idea of using sarongs. While searching for a curtain rod one of my crafty friends suggested a bamboo pole.
It worked perfectly and fits the feel of the room so much better than a formal rod would have.
bamboo pole from Lowe's - under $5
3 sarongs from turtle island imports - $11.95 each (your window size determines how many you need)
and hot pink twine that we already had but I know it's just a few dollars
and here was the result....

I am a southern girl... I was born in the south and I've always lived here. I do not enjoy cold, windy, rainy days... at ALL! But that is what I got today and I had to go out in it multiple times.
My daughter, Teagan, is not feeling well so she couldn't go with me and had to stay home with the 13yo. Here she is later in the day hamming up the pitiful while
drinking her tea.

A head cold never looked so cute.
As far as food, it was basically meat free fast food.
Total crap comfort food otherwise known as Cincinnati Chili

Here is how I ended the day

homemade hot chocolate. yes my oversized mug says Princess... you gotta problem with that?

There is NO excuse for my behavior.
It was June when I last updated... seriously?
Let's see. We had a Teagan birthday
the rest of the pics are here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsvenus/sets/72157621702460697/
New school year started
We've adjusted our activities a bit, now we are doing... Cam = golf lessons, Teagan = Girl Scouts, Both = Chess, Bowling.
All of the curlies in my family have given up shampoo, you can read a bit about that and see our updates here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsvenus/sets/72157621708652510/ I might do a whole post about this in the near future.
I've made a few toys but mainly goofed off on facebook. :D

Has it really been THAT long since the last entry?
Wow, bad blogger indeed!
I've had a bunch of orders. You can head over to Sole Mate Toys to see some of my recent orders.
There is also a long story involving a new addition... The kids found a dog, so far we can't find the owner so she is here at least for now. We are calling her Pepper.
this is the day they found her

After grooming

I've become the mother of a teenager since my last post. Wish me luck.
I ordered some business stuff from vistaprint and I LOVE IT!

And last but not least... my husband has been home since March 16 with no end in sight. This layoff might be the death of me. ;)

the "bad" cat

Teagan now has her own flickr. She is taking, editing and publishing her own photos. She is without a doubt one of the coolest 8 year olds around. http://flickr.com/photos/othercoraline/

And going during Chocolate Festival is even better... samples everywhere.
the day and the vacation overall has had ups and downs. I wish we could stay longer but tonight is our last night here in TX. We are on the road tomorrow... another 7 hours in the car, yay.
To make matters worse the boy has started puking so... yea this could be fun.
But here is my little veggie posing on a veggie at Central Market this morning.

Teagan's craft corner was my pic of the day.

I hope we can get her a bigger space when we buy a house. I'd love her her to have an easel and shelves and all kinda neat arty stuff.
She offered up a Volcano (spicy) Vegetarian Taco for the days pic so I'll share that here, too.
She told me last night that it makes her sad to think of the animals that die because we eat them and she asked why they had to taste soooo good. lol So she is "trying" (her words) to be a vegetarian but said she thinks it is going to be hard.

Just a super fast update. I finished Sara's order with an octopus.

And finished an order of puppies for my friend Blue's twin daughters. I think they came out very cute.

Teagan got invited to a Build-A-Bear "party" @ the mall by a homeschool friend and she "ordered" a bunny for her friend's gift. Which at least saves me $ so thats a bonus. lol I'm kinda worried that is look self promoting or vain to gift my merchandise but thats silly because why the fuck wouldn't you gift what you make if it is appropriate for the person/occasion? There, issue solved. ;-)

My kids went to their first Mardi Gras parade of the season today. It was the Children's Parade and they had a blast!

With their beads and a box of throws they caught during the parade.
And Mr.T, Mardi Gras style!

Her face is pink from her fancy mask, not sun. Look at ALL the beads!!! I cannot wait to make something with those. I have a few craft ideas but I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, stay tuned. ;)

Well school started again and with it ALL of the kids activities.
Homeschool meetings, teen committee and Irish dance on Tuesdays
Homeschool bowling league (Cam just won a medal for most wins for the first part of the year. YAY, Cameron!) on Wednesdays
Ice skating on Thursdays and now Teagan is doing dance 2x a week so Irish again on Thursdays.
And then of course other assorted things here and there... such is life when you have kids, especially when those kids are around 24 hours a day. lol
Ok well the comp update is... XP was a bust and a total waste of $100 - bleh. It wouldn't recognize my modem so I couldn't get online. So I ended up wiping xp and reinstalling Ubuntu. Apparently the computers that be want me to learn Linux.
I've read 3 books so far and gone without soda and fast food for 12 full days. I had some recent temptation due to some pretty big real life drama that left me with a painful NEED for comfort food but I fought the urge and feel much better that I'm still on track.
I've lost my first 2lbs of the year so yay me. :D
Our salt dough ornaments are painted and sealed. Our INUIY girl looks so much prettier with a coat of paint on her. What do you think?

ok bye for now xoxo
