My life is one big jumble of kids, pets, crafts, friends, food, home and business.

I'm awake so it must be time to...

Make bagels of course. lol I might make pretzels later but I need more flour.

Ok yesterday I got in a mood and I needed to clean and organize RIGHT THEN! After finishing my closet I moved into the kitchen. I scrubbed the cabinets and walls and then started rearranging things. I put this on the wall and wanted to be able to have the paper towels with it. Well I know they sell those combined things but going shopping wasn't in my RIGHT THEN plan so I white trashed up a solution...

I used a tube from a clothes hanger, twisted wire and ran that through the tube, made loops and hung it from twiosock hangers. lol I'm amused. Just call me the White Trash McGuyver. Maybe I'll paint the sock hooks some obnoxious color.

Finally!

She ordered a dino, elephant, gator and catish. She's been asking if I could do a turtle so I gave it a shot. It needs some tweaking to be sure but i think it is cute.

It's just one little thing, you can do it!

Join Nicole and myself as we try desperately to do this... It's just one tiny thing a day, right? ;)

Thing-A-Day

What’s this?

Join artists and creators of all types and backgrounds in a collective creative sprint. Thing-a-day invites you to join in a daily creative endeavor where everyone who signs up commits to making one thing (project, sketch, exercise) per day and shares it online on this collective blog. Take advantage of the opportunity to share ideas and receive constructive advice while developing new work.
How does it works?

* Starting on February 1st, make one thing a day.
* Document this work in anyway necessary to prove to the world that you’ve made something new: write, take pictures, videos, post things online.
* Do this everyday and post to the blog before midnight, 7 days a week.
* You can upload pictures straight to this blog (limit to 200K per post) but you can also host your work anywhere online and post a link to it on the blog. If you have a Flickr account, use it please.
* Introduce your daily accomplishments: give them a name, a title, a punch line, a description, anything that will encourage others to check out your work.
* See what everyone else has been up to and steal ideas, comment on other people’s work or reinvent something they did.
* No recycled old work, no posting someone else’s stuff pretending its yours… we’ll welcome anyone who wants to join and we trust you know the basic net ethics (-we reserve the right to kick someone out if/when needed).

How long will it take me?

You should be spending an average of 20 minutes a day, and no more than an hour.
Do i need to know what a blog is?

* Probably. But if you don’t, you’ll learn it pretty fast. By Day 3 of bugs and troubles, you’ll be all set.
* If you already have your own blog, feel free to post your things anywhere you wish and link to them from here. But remember that people will be most inclined to check out your work if you post at least a picture or a good hook to your post.
How to join?

Hit the Registration link at the top of this page for details,
Why join?

* This is your chance to get your creative energy going and challenge yourself to make something out of all these ideas in your head
* Anything to make February go faster is good
* You know you always wanted to do it and never had the courage to commit
* You’ll get peer support maybe, an audience surely
* You can give up on all of your other new years resolutions after that
* Ze Frank did it for a year…

Time to make the bagels...

Recently, thanks to Nicole, I've started making bagels. I was asked on twitter to do a photo blog detailing the process. So my kitchen is tiny and crowded, my camera sucks and this is only my third batch so I'm by no means perfect. So you've been warned... let's do this.

This is the recipe I follow, I tried to give you a picture of each step so you could see the process. Make Bagels!

Ok get all of your ingredients together according to directions. I'm using my fabulous Kitchen Aid, obviously.

Mix your dough

Divide your dough into 8 equalish pieces, let rest for 10-20 min

Roll each dough ball into a snake longer than the width of your two hands.

Loop your snake around your hand

Use your palm to seal your loop ends together

You made a dough circle!

A whole batch of almost bagels, yay.

After a 20 min rest

Time to boil

Boil for about a minute, flip and repeat for second side.

Dry before transferring to baking tray

Bake according to directions... Ta Da

Long time no blog

Well school started again and with it ALL of the kids activities.

Homeschool meetings, teen committee and Irish dance on Tuesdays

Homeschool bowling league (Cam just won a medal for most wins for the first part of the year. YAY, Cameron!) on Wednesdays

Ice skating on Thursdays and now Teagan is doing dance 2x a week so Irish again on Thursdays.

And then of course other assorted things here and there... such is life when you have kids, especially when those kids are around 24 hours a day. lol

Ok well the comp update is... XP was a bust and a total waste of $100 - bleh. It wouldn't recognize my modem so I couldn't get online. So I ended up wiping xp and reinstalling Ubuntu. Apparently the computers that be want me to learn Linux.

I've read 3 books so far and gone without soda and fast food for 12 full days. I had some recent temptation due to some pretty big real life drama that left me with a painful NEED for comfort food but I fought the urge and feel much better that I'm still on track.

I've lost my first 2lbs of the year so yay me. :D

Our salt dough ornaments are painted and sealed. Our INUIY girl looks so much prettier with a coat of paint on her. What do you think?

ok bye for now xoxo

Quick update

My comp has been having some fits again, well really Nic and I caused them. lol

I tried to use a um, "borrowed" xp disc and that did NOT work so I had to put ubuntu back on and I ordered a real XP disc. That should be here today and hopefully I'll be running normal again very soon!

Nic and I can't record until my comp is fixed. I can't even see or help with our new website... I'll make you wait a lil longer for those juicy details. ;) I'm really running only a few very basic programs so if you feel I've vanished or ignoring you, DON'T.

I love you all and will be back in my full glory soon. :D
